British actor Idris Elba has been cast in the Fast and Furious spin-off Hobbs & Shaw. The planned movie, which will be released in the summer of 2019, stars Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham who will reprise their characters from previous ‘Fast’ movies Luke Hobbs and Deckard Shaw.
Shooting on the spin-off, which is set up over at Universal Pictures, will kick off later this year for a July 2019 release. Variety first broke the news of Elba’s involvement in the movie, which will be helmed by Deadpool 2 director David Leitch.
Elba’s directorial debut Yardie will hit cinemas in the UK next month following successful bows at winter festivals Sundance and Berlin.
There are no further plot details available at this time for the film, but we’ll keep you posted.
