The Luca Guadagnino Suspiria remake has been given what looks to be a hard R rating by the MPAA in the U.S. for ‘bloody images and graphic nudity’. The news was confirmed by the movie’s official Twitter account. We’re almost certain that this will lead to an 18 certificate in the UK which is now something of a rarity. Obviously that’s not the case yet because as far as we know they are yet to see the film.
Here’s the full MPAA classification statement or Suspiria:
“Disturbing content involving ritualistic violence, bloody images and graphic nudity, and some language including sexual references.”

Early reports from people who have seen footage say it is hard to watch. Scenes shown at the recent CinemaCon swhowed Dakota Johnson controlling the body of another woman as she dances, making said body crack in half. Blimey.
Suspiria is a remake of the Italian giallo supernatural horror film directed by Dario Argento. It revolves around a young American ballet dancer who travels to a prestigious dance academy in Berlin, only to discover it is something far more sinister and supernatural.
It will be released in November. More as it comes in.
