‘Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom’ Just Opened Huge In China

For some reason, Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom is yet to open in the United States and Canada, but the film is already doing big business around the world. The Universal Pictures-backed sequel, which is currently riding high at the top of the UK box-office. has also just opened huge in China – widely considered to be the second most important market.

The Bryce Dallas-Howard and Chris Pratt-led sequel to the record-breaking Jurassic World, has just opened to a whopping $111 million in China, eclipsing the $97.5 million taken in the first three days by Jurassic World back in 2015 (which also included two days of previews). When you think that Jurassic World went on to take a huge $1.67 million around the world – securing it the number 4 position (at the time) on the highest grossing movies of all time list – this is no small thing.

Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom has currently taken $370 million around the world with the U.S. and other territories still to open.

In China, it is the eighth highest opener of all time.

We’ll see how the film does in its domestic territory this coming weekend. Stay tuned for more news.
