British actor Benedict Cumberbatch and Peter Dinklage are reportedly being sought for the film version of Monty Python’s stage musical Spamalot. They would play the roles of King Arthur and Patsy respectively, and American comedian Tiffany Haddish is also reportedly wanted to play The Lady Of The Lake.
The Hashtag Show reports the news, adding that the film is looking to go into production next summer.
Spamalot, which continues to play all over the world in touring productions, is based on the film Monty Python and the Holy Grail. The film version will be directed by Tony winner Casey Nicholaw, while Monty Python legend Eric Idle is set to write the screenplay.
We’ve reviewed the stage show on a UK tour a little while ago – it really is one of the best things we’ve seen on stage in a long time.
