This could almost be called a classic as it was made in 2009! The film follows four wineries in Northern California in a documentary style. It focuses on the challenges of each winery to become established.

The wide range of personalities and tactics used to achieve these goals make Corked a highly entertaining and surprisingly informative film.

 

  • Red Obsession

 

This film is narrated by Russell Crowe and is another documentary which interviews a host of wine makers across the world. It racks the progression of French Wine from Bordeaux to China with a look at the current trends.

The film was very well received although it does raise a question regarding the morality of purchasing wine simply because of its reputation or price.

Interestingly the cooling of the Chinese wine market does not make this film less relevant.

 

  • Sideways

 

Join two middle aged men looking for a little more out of life take a vacation through California, specifically the wineries. Sideways could be seen as a weeklong bachelor party.

There is an even balance between an attempt to teach the groom basic wine appreciation and a developing love interest which threatens to destroy and restore all that both men hold dear.

This is one film that will have you and your partner snuggled together with a bottle or two in blissful harmony.

 

  • A Walk In The Clouds

 

This film dates from 1995 and sees a young Keanu Reeves returning from the 2nd World War. He quickly realizes that an impulsive pre-enlisting marriage is not meant to be; the women is not who he thought she was.

A chance encounter with a pregnant lady who has been abandoned by her boyfriend leaves him standing in as her husband. The idea is simply to protect her from an Old World Domineering father; the result is love. But will this be enough for them to regain her father’s love and trust while saving the vineyard?

 

  • A Good Year

 

Russell Crowe appears in this film as a successful and ruthless London stock broker. That is until the uncle that raised him passes away.

Suddenly the owner of a chateau in Provence his flying visit turns into a trip down memory lane; to remember the boy he used to be. His laid back side starts to return as a series of mishaps leads to potential love; a connection from his almost forgotten past.

Now he’ll have to decide between the calling of destiny and the life he has built for himself. Of course the discovery that the wine at the chateau is a much higher quality than first thought won’t sway his decision.
