‘The Man Who Killed Don Quixote’ Given Go-Ahead To Screen In Cannes

It has just been revealed that Terry Gilliam’s The Man Who Killed Don Quixote will screen at this year’s Cannes Film Festival as this year’s closing film. The appearance of the film at this year’s festival was in doubt after a law suit was filed with an injunction to stop the film from screening. That lawsuit went before he courts in France this week and the ruling delivered in favour of the filmmakers on Wednesday. The film will now play.

The festival was saddened to learn that director Terry Gilliam suffered a mild health alert just yesterday and was sent to hospital in London, though initial reports of a stroke, which were buzzing around the Croisette on Tuesday were thankfully false. His representatives released the following statement on his behalf:

“Whilst we don’t comment on personal health matters, we can confirm that Terry Gilliam is currently at home preparing for his trip to Cannes next week in support of ‘The Man Who Killed Don Quixote.’”

The Man Who Killed Don Quixote stars Adam Driver, Jonathan Pryce, Stellan Skarsgård, Olga Kurylenko, Joana Ribeiro, Óscar Jaenada, Jordi Mollà, Sergi Lopez and Rossy de Palma.

The film will be released nationwide across France on the day of its Cannes premiere.
