The TV version of the superb What We Do In The Shadows has officially got a series order courtesy of FX Stateside, so reports Variety. The trade says that the network has ordered a 10-episode first season for a half-hour comedy series based on the 2014 film of the same name. It is expected to hit sometime in 2019. The TV series comes to the screen courtesy of Jemaine Clement and Taika Waititi, who were behind the original movie.
“’What We Do in the Shadows’ only gets better with age thanks to this brilliant adaptation for television by co-creators Jemaine Clement and Taika Waititi,” said FX’s co-president of original programming Nick Grad to Variety in a statement. “Their feature version was a hilarious, fresh take on the mundanity of everyday life that even immortals must face. We are thankful to them, Paul Simms and Scott Rudin, and this amazing cast for taking us deeper into the shadows with this series.”
Matt Berry, Kayvan Novak, Natasia Demetriou, and Harvey Guillen lead the cast of the TV version.
A sequel to the 2014 movie is also reportedly in the works. It will follow a pack of werewolves and is appropriately titled We’re Wolves. More on that as we get it.
