He’s currently wowing audiences as Gianni Versace in American Crime Story: The Assassination Of Gianni Versace, and now Edgar Ramirez is set for the Mouse House and the lead villain role in their planned Jungle Cruise movie. The Hollywood Reporter reports that Ramirez is set to join the already cast Dwayne Johnson, Emily Blunt, and Jack Whitehall in the Disney film, which is based on their hugely popular Disneyland ride of the same name.
Jaume Collet-Serra, (The Shallows, The Commuter, Non-Stop) is directing.
The trade adds some plot details about the planned film, which is set to roll into production soon:
Johnson is a boat captain who takes a sister (Blunt) and her brother (Jack Whitehall) on a mission to find a tree believed to posses healing powers. Wild animals and a competing German expedition figure into the proceedings.
They add that Ramirez will play a man with a conquistador background who is one of the story’s villains.
Jungle Cruise is yet to get a release date, but we’re guessing that this one is due in cinemas in 2019.
