Jessica Chastain has been confirmed to star in the planned sequel to It, which is provisionally titled It: Chapter Two. The Hollywood Reporter confirmed the news late yesterday. The trade paper also adds that both James McAvoy and Bill Hader are also in talks to join the project, which will kick off shooting in Toronto this summer.
THR says that McAvoy is up for the role of the adult Bill Denbrough, the unofficial leader of the group of kids nicknamed the Losers Club, who grows up to be a successful author. Hader would ‘play the adult Richie Tozier, the jokester who grows up to be a DJ. Finn Wolfhard played the character in the first installment,’ so reports the trade.
Chastain will play Beverly Marsh, the group’s lone female member. The project will see her reunited with her Mama director Andy Muschietti.
The first It movie has grossed over $700 million worldwide. It: Chapter Two will be released on September 9th, 2019.
