Billions and former Homeland star Damian Lewis is all set to play controversial ex-Toronto mayor Rob Ford in a new movie. The film, titled Run This Town, will also star Ben Platt, Nina Dobrev and Mena Massoud, and will be set during the politician’s final year in office.
Scott Speedman and Jennifer Ehle are also amongst the cast.
Lewis will reportedly wear a prosthetic to play the role (reports Kit Magazine following an interview with the actor), with The Hollywood Reporter saying that the movie will follow a reporter (Ben Platt) who attempts to expose a scandal involving a politician who doesn’t play by the rules. The politician’s aides, played by Nina Dobrev and Mena Massoud, try their best to handle him and keep the story suppressed.
Ford was mayor of Toronto from 2010 to 2014 and was the subject of many a controversy during that time. Video surfaced of him smoking crack cocaine; he was accused of sexual assault and he argued publicly with staff while intoxicated, as reports the trade.
More as it comes in.
