‘A Quiet Place’ Took In $70 Million-Plus Worldwide Over Its Opening Weekend

One of the best films now playing is the superb A Quiet Place, the horror film directed by and starring John Krasinski alongside Emily Blunt, Millicent Simmonds and Noah Jupe. We gave the film the full five-stars, calling it “a nerve-shredder of the highest order, one that constantly surprises, scares and leaves the audience shattered.” Well, the film clearly found its audience over the weekend, taking $50 million on domestic soil and a further $21 million in other territories around the world, with more to come.

The story follows a family who must live life in silence while hiding from creatures that hunt by sound, and the whole film was made for a rather reasonable $17 million. It’s already massively into profit, even if you include promotional costs on top of that, and a very welcomed success for Paramount Pictures. What’s also important is that it reinforces the want for intelligent horror, building upon the foundations formed by the likes of Get Out.

A Quiet Place averaged a massive $14k per screen in the United States and Canada, movie-goers queuing up in their droves to see what Jransinski and co, had up their sleeves. It was clear that they were not disappointed.

A Quiet Place still has many other territories to open it, so expect this one to continue to succeed and that monster box-office figure continue to grow.
