On the red carpet at this weekend’s Oscars, Call Me By Your Name director Luca Guadagnino was briefly asked about the planned sequels to the break-out hit of 2017. A follow-up has been in development for a little while, and the Italian director was more than happy to give us an update.
Speaking with USA Today, Guadagnino said: “I’m already conceiving the story with Andre Aciman, and it’s gonna happen five or six years afterwards. It’s gonna be a new movie, a different tone… they’re gonna go around the world.”
Aciman wrote the source novel for the first movie, which was then adapted into a screenplay by James Ivory, who picked up an Academy Award on Sunday for his glorious work.
Both Armie Hammer and Timothee Chalamet are expected to return for the sequel.
More as we get it.
