Sicario 2: Soldado director Stefano Sollima is set to helm the planned Call Of Duty movie for Activision Blizzard. The news was announced over on trade newspaper Variety.
Sollima will deliver the highly anticipated follow-up to Sicario later this year, with Benicio del Toro and Josh Brolin returning to their roles from the first movie.
There has been no official word from Activition Blizzard on the news of Sollima’s placing as the director, but word is that the studio was seeking A-list directing talent for the high profile project, something that Sollima easily matches up to following his impressive work on the TV series Gomorrah and from what we’ve seen of the Sicario sequel so far.
Call of Duty is a first-person shooter video game franchise that started all of the way back in 2003. The series began on Microsoft Windows, and later expanded to consoles and handhelds.
Activision Blizzard Studios’s Presidents Stacey Sher and Nick van Dyk are reportedly producing the Call Of Duty film with chief executive Boby Kotick.
More as we get it.
