A film based on the classic 1980s sci-fi TV series V is in active development. The news comes to us via UK outlet Digital Spy who report that not just one but three new movies are being planned with the original’s creator Kenneth Johnson writing and directing.
The series debuted on NBC in 1983 and revolved around a race of aliens who arrive on Earth appearing as human but requiring special glasses to protect their eyes. However, a few suspicious humans discover their true intentions and prepare to resist.
“We are delighted to team up with Desilu to bring the timeless – and timely – story of resistance against tyranny into the 21st century,” Johnson said.
He continued: “V will be the first of a cinematic trilogy which will tell the full epic tale in the manner I always envisioned.”
There’s no timeline for the new imagining of the show as yet, but we’ll keep you posted. Hit the link above for more.
