Netflix has purchased the worldwide distribution rights for Extinction, the new film from filmmaker Ben Young, who absolutely blew me with away his great work on last year’s Australian thriller Hounds Of Love.
Extinction stars Michael Pena and Lizzie Kaplan as husband and wife. Variety says that Pena plays a character who has a recurring nightmare of losing his family and that bad dream becomes a reality when the planet is invaded by a force bent on destruction. Fighting for their lives, he comes to realise an unknown strength to keep his family safe from harm.
Sounds completely different from Young’s last work.
Universal Pictures pulled Extinction from its schedule a little while back, but now Netflix plan on releasing the film everywhere where their service is available later in 2018. We’ll keep you posted.
