James Mangold has picked his first major project post-Logan. The seasoned helmer will steer away from the superhero world for a true story based on the rivalry between car manufacturers Henry Ford and Enzo Ferrari.
Variety reports that the new movie will revolve around the two designers’ race to create the world’s fastest sportscar. They have more on the plot lines:
Based on a true story, the film follows an eccentric, determined team of American engineers and designers, led by automotive visionary Carroll Shelby and his British driver, Ken Miles, who are dispatched by Henry Ford II with the mission of building from scratch an entirely new automobile with the potential to finally defeat the perennially dominant Ferrari at the 1966 Le Mans World Championship.
The projects is as yet untitled, but it has a home over at 20th Century Fox where Mangold’s Logan and the previous X-Men spin-off The Wolverine were housed.
More as we get it.
