After the castings of Mahershala Ali and then Stephen Dorff just a couple of weeks ago, True Detective season three has found another in Scoot McNairy. The actor, known for roles in the likes of Fargo and Killing Them Softly, will start shooting the HBO drama very soon.
Trade blog Deadline reports that season 3 ‘will tell the story of a macabre crime in the heart of the Ozarks and a mystery that deepens over decades and plays out in three separate time periods. Ali will play the lead role of Wayne Hays, a state police detective from northwest Arkansas.’
They add that the hugely talented McNairy will play Tom, ‘a father who suffers a terrible loss that ties his fate to that of two state police detectives over 10 years.’
Nic Pizzolatto is writing the new season (teaming with David Milch on episode 4) and will also make his directorial debut. Jeremy Saulnier is the main season three director.
We’re expecting True Detective season three to air on HBO at the tail end of 2018/ early 2019. It will most probably land on Sky Atlantic, HBO’s home in the UK. More info on that as it comes in.
