Take A Look At This Travel Guide & Unlock Some Very Famous Movie Locations

If you, like us, are into your travel as well as your films, then we’ve got quite the news for you. The folks over at Travel Republic have put together a guide that combines the two. Their recently released film location guide quite literally points you, the traveler, in the right direction when it comes to matching locations with your favourite movies.

The Travel Republic film locations guide covers films like Cocktail, The Beach, A Fistful Of Dollars and even swords and sandals epic Gladiator.

Let’s kick things off with a bit of Las Vegas glitz and glamour and the exploits which took place in the 2009 comedy The Hangover. The guide tells us to head to the iconic Caesar’s Palace hotel and casino on the main strip to visit the actual casino where Bradley Cooper and co. shot the movie. There are also other locations used in the movie, like the infamous chapel where Ed Helms’ Stu married Heather Graham’s stripper Jade and the many hotels and casino that provided the backdrop for many of the film’s iconic scenes.

If gambling isn’t your thing, then why not head to the Caribbean for the more tranquil climbs of Reach Falls, Jamaica. If you cast your mind back to the late 1980s, this is where Tom Cruise and Elizabeth Shue had that very famous kiss in Cocktail, under the flowing waterfalls as their two characters fell in love.

If beaches are up your street, then why not head east to the ultimate paradise of Kho Pi Pi in Thailand, the ultimate paradise used to film The Beach. Leonardo DiCaprio, Tilda Swinton and Robert Carlyle led the cast of the 2000 Danny Boyle-directed drama about a traveler who is lured to this buena vista from the fast-paced streets of Bangkok. It is there where he not only finds paradise on Earth but also a dangerous unseen threat which really does spoil his extended break on the sunny island.

If not beaches, then how about a trip to Italy for Gladiator? The obvious choice here is the city of Rome and the huge Coliseum featured in the movie, but Travel Republic suggest the rolling rural vistas of Tuscany, the locations used for the scenes where Russell Crowe’s character of Maximus and his family lived. The fields used during filming on Ridley Scott’s 2000 Oscar-winner, are located outside of Pienza, an hour’s drive from the popular city of Siena. With that, and summer temperatures reaching a huge 30 degrees-plus, this is a worthy destination for the film fan and sun-chaser.

What about Breakfast At Tiffany’s across continents to New York City for the locations used for the filming of the Audrey Hepburn classic. You could step into the shoes of Hepburn’s Holly Golightly and roll up to the Tiffany & Co. flagship store on Fifth Avenue in Manhattan. The film, based on Truman Capote’s classic novel, is one of the best adaptations ever brought to the screen, and while you go about some retail therapy in the city that never sleeps, you can also follow in the footsteps of one of the silver screen’s most beloved and most popular stars.
