According to some blurb online, Bloodshot is a former soldier with powers of regeneration, technomancy and meta-morphing made possible through nanites injected into his blood. After escaping from his masters at Project Rising Spirit, Bloodshot seeks to discover his true identity and other purpose besides killing.

The character was created by Kevin Van Hook, Don Perlin and Bob Layton in 1992 and the film is expected to be a hard R in terms of its rating. The trade adds that the film will be aesthetically influenced by high-concept, sci-fi blockbusters of the late ’80s including Robocop, Terminator, and Total Recall, following on from recent R-rated hits Deadpool and Logan. Neil Moritz, who is behind the Fast and the Furious movies, is co-producing the new movie, which is expected in cinemas in 2019.

Valiant, who first published Bloodshot, holds around 2,000 superhero characters making it the third largest library of superheroes behind Marvel and DC, so there’s lots of potential for the future here.

Diesel is hot property in Hollywood as he was named the top earner in terms of box-office dollars in 2017, beating the likes of Dwayne Johnson, Mark Wahlberg, Tom Cruise and many other top name draws. He will next appear in Avengers: Infinity War as the voice of Groot, while also having further sequels to xXx and the Fast and the Furious series also in the works in the years to come.
