Is The ‘Downton Abbey’ Film Set To Shoot This Year?

It feels like we’re always speculating on when the Downton Abbey film will roll into production, but this morning it seems like we potentially have some more information on a shoot date.

We have some information that the planned Downton Abbey film may go before the cameras in the middle of the year, all according to an interview with Phyllis Logan, who played housekeeper Mrs. Hughes in the ITV drama. This was published in the Mail On Sunday.

“Everyone’s been asked what’s going on between this date and that date. So we just hope that all the elements – because there are so many – come together. To have a last hurrah with all the characters, going back to the castle and seeing all the old muckers will be fantastic. I’m certainly up for it…. there’s a potential script coming our way, slightly rewritten.”

A new script for the movie has apparently been completed. “There’s a potential script coming our way, slightly rewritten,” said Ms Logan to the newspaper. The Mail on Sunday also reports that Highclere Castle in Berkshire, England, is closed to the public from May 30th to July 7th, thought to be for exterior and interior filming.

Logan also reflected on her time on the show, which concluded on Christmas Day, 2015. “It was a great show to do and a great character to play and I will forever think fondly of Mrs Hughes,’ said Ms Logan, 61. ‘In fact, it was one of the best gigs of my life and opened up so many other avenues and put a different spin on my career.”

The drama, created by Julian Fellowes, ran for 6 seasons from 2010 to 2015. A Downton Abbey film has been rumoured ever since with fans absolutely willing it to happen. It looks like they may now be getting their wish. More as we get it.
