The Coolest Star Wars Facts

As the hype train for Star Wars: The Last Jedi heads into its final stretch, fans are either thinking about what is in store, or reminiscing about their favourite moments from the movies already made.

While there is little doubting that the fandom belonging to this franchise is one of the biggest and most knowledgeable ones in existence, even when compared to other smash hit game or TV phenomenon; this cherished series still has a secret or two! So, here we present some of the most scintillating for your reading pleasure.

The Immodesty of Carrie Fisher

Carrie Fisher point-blank refused to wear modesty tape when filming the famous Jabba’s Palace scene.

In the same manner that a good online gambling casino has a lot going on behind the scenes to ensure you get what you want as you want it, the Return of the Jedi Jabba Palace sequence was a very complex one.

It had 90 crew members, 42 extras, 18 principal cast members, ten puppeteers and nine mimes involved for the entire month it took to film.

Additionally, there was one gold bikini that simply refused to behave! Fisher refused to tape up her tits to keep them in place, and so many sequences had to be reshot as her boobs refused to behave.

Ford Broke His Ankle, JJ Abrams His Back

You are probably aware of the fact that Harrison Ford broke his ankle whilst filming The Force Awakens in 2014, thanks to one of the hydraulic Falcon doors slamming down on it.

What you maybe did not know is that JJ Abrams broke his back trying to rescue the actor!

Vanity Fair reported that the director was trying to lift the door off Ford when he heard something pop, and he was informed a few days later that he had, in fact, broken his back.

Abrams never told the cast or crew about this, simply getting back to work, albeit with a back brace.

Rogue One Was Not Always Rogue One

The history of the naming of Rogue One is curious, and it remains the only Star Wars film where the title appears in a line of dialogue.

Dark Times was one of the alternative titles, although this was rejected soon after the movie went into pre-production, and there was an opening crawl to the movie as well, although it ended up not being used.

Gareth Edwards, director, said at the time that Rogue One is somewhat of a military call sign. He did, however, also acknowledge that this film was the first one to go off-course and not form part of either the saga or the Anakin story -hence its being the rouge one.

Ewoks Were Not Officially Called Ewoks in Return of the Jedi

As hard as it may be to imagine Return of the Jedi without Ewoks, originally an army of Wookiees was supposed to help Endor.

In the end, George Lucas opted to make use of smaller creatures instead, and so, thankfully, the Ewok was born.

Interestingly, the word Ewok is never actually spoken in the film, with the name appearing only in the script directions. It went on to show up in movie’s end credits, and, later, other promo and spin-off materials, and so it entered the Star Wars lexicon.
