Our first look at Jason Momoa in the upcoming Aquaman has surfaced courtesy of the new issue of Entertainment Weekly. The image shows Momoa with his shirt off (naturally) in the James Wan-directed movie, which will arrive in cinemas in just over a year’s time.
Momoa also took some time to speak with the magazine about the difference between his character in the now-playing Justice League and his forthcoming stand-alone movie.
“Justice League was only a weekend in Arthur Curry’s life,” Momoa tells the outlet. “This is a totally different beast. In Aquaman, you see when his parents met and what happened to hem. Then the little boy being raised and finding his powers and going through that and never being accepted on either side. And then becoming this man who puts up all these walls. You just slowly see this man harden up and be completely reluctant wanting to be king and not knowing what to do with these powers he has. I think James Wan just killed it.”

The film also stars Amber Heard as Mera, Willem Dafoe as Nuidis Vulko, Temuera Morrison as Tom Curry, Dolph Lundgren as Nereus, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as Black Manta, Ludi Lin as Murk, Patrick Wilson as Orm/Ocean Master, Nicole Kidman as Atlanna and Michael Beach as Jesse Kane.
Aquaman has wrapped shooting and is currently being aimed at cinemas for a December 21st, 2018 release in the UK.
