Steven Spielberg’s ‘The Post’ Named Best Film By National Board of Review

The anticipation for Steven Spielberg’s The Post grows with the news that it has been awarded the mantle of Best Film Of 2017 by the National Board Of Review. Variety reports that the board, made up of “film enthusiasts, filmmakers, professionals, and academics,” also awarded lead actors Tom Hanks and Meryl Streep, the best acting gongs. Willem Dafoe bagged ‘supporting actor’ for The Florida Project, while Laurie Metcalf won supporting actress for Lady Bird. The other National Board Of Review 2017 awards winners are below.

In other categories, The Disaster Artist was given the best-adapted-screenplay honor, while Paul Thomas Anderson’s Phantom Thread got best original screenplay. The Best Director award went to Greta Gerwig for Lady Bird.

Elsewhere Pixar’s Coco took home the best animation prize, while Jane won best documentary. Samuel Maoz’s Foxtrot was named best foreign film.

Get Out wasn’t left out. Jordan Peele won directorial debu, while the cast bagged ensemble performance. Call Me by Your Name‘s star Timothee Chalamet, received the breakthrough performance award.

Wonder Woman‘s Gal Gadot and Patty Jenkins won the Spotlight Award, while Angelina Jolie’s First They Killed My Father won the Freedom of Expression award, as did Let It Fall: Los Angeles 1982-1992.
