What We Can Expect From ‘Fantastic Beasts 2’, According To The Film’s Producer

He’s got a hit playing in UK cinemas at the moment with Paddington 2 and has managed to launch a new world of wizarding wonder with ‘Fantastic Beasts’. David Heyman is riding the crest of a wave at the moment, particularly as one of his upcoming projects is the next Quentin Tarantino movie. Heyman has, however, been speaking about a production which is pretty much in the can, the sequel to Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them, Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes Of Grindelwald. The producer was speaking to Entertainment Weekly about what we may expect from the big-budget sequel, due next year.

Here’s what he had to say to the outlet.

“We delve deeper into Jo’s wizarding world — we’re in Paris, we’re in London and New York — the world is expanding. As you can tell from the image, we’re following quite a few characters. The new film has a very different feel than the first. It’s got a thriller quality. And it’s also a story about love and passion and all its forms — paternal, romantic, political. And it’s just a thrilling and very fun adventure. We took all we’ve learned from one and just expanded that and created a richer, deeper and more thrilling film which I’m excited to be a part of.”

David Heyman also spoke of the direction of David Yates, “Cinematically it’s more dynamic. The camera is more alive and much more immersive. It has a more contemporary cinematic approach.”

The cast of the film includes Eddie Redmayne, Katherine Waterston, Dan Fogler, Alison Sudol, Ezra Miller, Johnny Depp, Jude Law, Zoë Kravitz, Callum Turner, and Claudia Kim. The plot follows Newt Scamander (Redmayne) and Albus Dumbledore (Law) as they attempt to take down the dark wizard Gellert Grindelwald (Depp), as they face new threats in a more divided wizarding world.

While ‘Fantastic Beasts’ wasn’t perfect, I far from disliked it, and can’t wait to see what they come up with next. Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes Of Grindelwald rolls into cinemas on November 16th, 2018.
