We’ve heard a lot about Quentin Tarantino’s next movie in the last week or so. The untitled film was subject to a major bidding war in Hollywood with Sony Pictures eventually bagging worldwide towards the end of last week. We also discovered that Tom Cruise, Leonardo DiCaprio and Brad Pitt have been met for major roles, and Margot Robbie is the one that Tarantino wants to play Sharon Tate, one of serial killer Charles Manson’s victims in the late 1960s. Now it seems that we may have some pretty major plot details.
The folks over at Vanity Fair have the following to say about the story. Obviously, it sounds awesome.
Set in Los Angeles in the summer of 1969, Tarantino’s upcoming movie, according to a source who read the script, focuses on a male TV actor who’s had one hit series and his looking for a way to get into the film business. His sidekick—who’s also his stunt double—is looking for the same thing. The horrific murder of Sharon Tate and four of her friends by Charles Manson’s cult of followers serves as a backdrop to the main story.
VF also state:
He’s also said to want a production budget of close to $100 million, first-dollar gross and final cut on the film. It’s not yet clear if Sony has agreed to all these terms.
Love to see Tarantino play with $100 million with total control of a movie set in Hollywood. Wouldn’t you?
We are hearing that the film will shoot next June in Los Angeles for a 2019 release date. More as we get it.
