Sam Mendes Exits Live-Action ‘Pinocchio’ At Disney

According to The Tracking Board, Sam Mendes is no longer directing the live-action Pinocchio movie over at Disney. The British helmer was previously in ‘early talks’ for the gig but has now dropped out of proceedings.

No, obviously everyone is going to jump to conclusions that the director will now re-team with Eon Productions and Daniel Craig for the latest James Bond movie, which will be released in 2019. Mendes, of course, helmed both Skyfall and Spectre, both of which did hugely well in 2012 and 2015 respectively. Mendes is not linked with the 25th official James Bond movie and his exit from the Disney project nothing to do with 007, according to sources, but you have to admit, it would be pretty cool for him to return to round out the trilogy.

No news on who will replace Mendes on Pinocchio, but we’ll keep you updated.
