A Bad Boys TV spin-off is in the works from the original movies’ producer Jerry Bruckheimer. Deadline reports that the series will focus on the character played in the second film by Gabrielle Union.
In Bad Boys II, Union played the character of Sydney ‘Syd’ Burnett, the sister of Martin Lawrence’s character from the first two movies, Marcus Burnett. The character was romantically involved with Will Smith’s Mike Lowery in the second film.
The new series is currently being pitched to various networks, some very interested in taking it on. The Bad Boys TV spin-off is being written by The Blacklist writers-producers Brandon Margolis and Brandon Sonnier, and will come to the screens from producer Jerry Bruckheimer, Doug Belgrad via his 2.0 Entertainment and Primary Wave Entertainment, and Sony Pictures TV Studios, so says Deadline.
Bad Boys II was released in 2003, and a third movie has been mentioned as happening, titled Bad Boys For Life, but that has completely disappeared from Sony’s upcoming schedule.
