Paul Thomas Anderson’s new film has received an official title and new synopsis. They were released by Focus Features on the film’s official website. The name of the film, which stars Daniel Day-Lewis, will be Phantom Thread, the story set in the fashion industry in 1950’s London.
The official synopsis is as follows:
Continuing their creative collaboration following 2007’s There Will Be Blood, three-time Academy Award winner Daniel Day-Lewis stars in Phantom Thread from Paul Thomas Anderson. The writer/director will once again explore a distinctive milieu of the 20th century. The new movie is a drama set in the couture world of 1950s London. The story illuminates the life behind the curtain of an uncompromising dressmaker commissioned by royalty and high society.
Lesley Manville (Maleficent), Camilla Rutherford (The Darjeeling Limited) and Vicky Krieps (A Most Wanted Man) are also amongst the cast.
Phantom Thread will be produced by Megan Ellison and JoAnne Sellar, Phantom Thread is set to open Stateside on Christmas Day, December 25, 2017, and in the UK on February 2nd, 2018. It will Daniel Day-Lewis’s last film before his previously reported retirement from acting.
