Pirates Of The Caribbean and Rango director Gore Verbinski will direct Channing Tatum in the Gambit movie. News reaches us from Deadline that Verbinski has landed the gig for the movie, a spin-off from the X-Men series that has been in development over at 20th Century Fox for quite some time.
Doug Liman and Rupert Wyatt were previously attached to helm.
The film will see Tatum play Remy LeBeau, the suave mutant from New Orleans who can turn objects into projectiles, including, yes, a deck of cards. The project is apparently a high-priority for the studio, so will probably roll into production sooner rather than later.
There’s not too much information or release dates, specific story details or any other casting info at this stage. Josh Zetumer wrote the screenplay.
We will bring you more on the Gambit movie as we get it.
