I for one didn’t have a huge problem with both of Marc Webb’s ‘Amazing Spider-Man’ movies, particularly the first one, but audiences didn’t gel with either film, so plans for a third movie were scrapped. However, Webb has been chatting about the plans that were in place for that movie with with Den of Geek in the US this past week.
Speaking to the outlet, Webb said:
“They were going to make a ‘Sinister Six‘ movie before we did the third [Spider-Man movie]. Chris Cooper was going to come back and play the Goblin. We were going to freeze his head, and then he was going to be brought back to life… [Norman Osborn] was going to be the main villain. He was going to come out and lead the Sinister Six. We had talked about Vulture a little bit too, actually.”
The filmmaker, whose drama Gifted is about to hit the home formats added: “And then there was that character called The Gentleman. We had some notions about how to do it, but I think maybe we were thinking too far ahead when we started building in those things. But it was a fun exercise. I look back very fondly on those days.”
Of course, Sony Pictures recently teamed with Marvel Studios to bring us one of the biggest hits of the summer with Spider-Man: Homecoming, a Spider-Man movie that definitely found its feet with modern audiences.
