Vin Diesel is looking back at one of the 1980s most popular and iconic TV series to revive it for modern audiences. Miami Vice ran for 1984 to 1990 over 5 seasons, created by Anthony Yerkovich, and executive produced by one Michael Mann, who revived it for s 2006 movie with Colin Farrell and Jamie Foxx.
Miami Vice was known for the stylish clothes Detectives Sonny Crockett (Don Johnson) and Ricardo Tubbs (Philip Michael Thomas) wore, the soundtrack, and its distinct visuals. But beneath the veneer is a surprisingly dark cop show. The cocaine boom of the 1980s framed many stories about drugs and murder, with Crockett and Tu>bbs often resorting to violence in the course of their work.
The new version is being developed by Diesel’s One Race Television and Chris Morgan’s Chris Morgan Productions. Morgan is best known for his work as a screenwriter and producer on the Fast & Furious movies.
The new version of the show, which will be based on the 1980’s original series, is Peter Macmanus.
There’s no further news as yet, but we’ll keep you posted.
