Ericson Core, the filmmaker who directed the unneeded remake of Point Break a couple of years back, is set to direct the Damien Chazelle (La La Land) script The Claim. The film, which is being produced by Scott Clayton of Oceanside Media and Route One Entertainment’s Russell Levine, tells the story of a single father with a criminal background who must locate his kidnapped daughter while fighting the mysterious claims of another couple who insist that the child is theirs.
Producer Clayton said of the appointment:
“Ericson has an inimitable level of skill behind the camera as a director and cinematographer. Under his masterful direction and keen eye for captivating storytelling, and Chazelle’s gripping screenplay, The Claim has all the elements to be a powerful and enthralling theatrical experience.”
Casting is set to kick into gear now that the film has a director, and shooting is set to start early next year.
More as we get it.
