Ian McShane has joined the Hellboy reboot for director Neil Marshall. The Hellboy reboot, which is set to start filming in the U.K. and Bulgaria in September, is titled Hellboy: Rise Of The Blood Queen, and sees David Harbour take over the title character from Ron Perlman. Ian McShane Hellboy news: British actor set to join reboot
Ian McShane will play Hellboy’s adoptive father Professor Trevor Bruttenholm in the forthcoming movie, which is based on the popular comic book series by Mike Mignola. The Descent and frequent Game Of Thrones director Marshall is helming, while Mike Richardson, Larry Gordon and Lloyd Levin are producing.

Hellboy was created by writer-artist Mike Mignola and first appeared in San Diego Comic-Con Comics #2. The first film was released back in 2004 with Guillermo del Toro directing Ron Perlman in the title role. It had a follow-up, Hellboy II: The Golden Army, which was released on July 11, 2008. The film grossed a combined $260 million at the global box-office from budgets running to around $150 million.
Heat Vision reports that the new story sees the hero squaring off against a medieval sorceress who seeks to destroy humankind. It is set up at Lionsgate where McShane is a familiar face having starred alongside Keanu Reeves in the John Wick movies. He is currently appearing in American Gods as Mr. Wednesday where he is gaining much acclaim.
