The 2017 Edinburgh Festival is almost upon us and to celebrate World Fringe Day, which is today, the folks over Expedia have put together an awesome guide to get to and stay at the festival this year whatever your budget.
Expedia.co.uk have launched FestivalFindr, your backstage pass to get into the best of this year’s festival and its many off-shoots. FestivalFindr incorporates the likes of the Edinburgh Festival, the Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo,Edinburgh Festival Fringe, the Edinburgh Arts Festival, Edinburgh International Book Festival and that legendary festival Hogmanay at the start of next year.
This year’s Edinburgh Festival kicks off on August 4th and runs until August 28th with six major theatres and concert halls joining forces with smaller, more intimate venues to bring the public one of the best and indeed most unique festivals of the year.
The great thing with Expedia’s new FestivalFindr is that it tries to find some top notch accommodation – be it a small hotel or even a bed and breakfast – all at reasonable prices.
On a shoestring, you could opt for a cosy B&B or boutique hotel and, using this new website, we were able to find accommodation during the peak of the festival for as little as £59 per night. There may be even be cheaper options, with the website also offering alternative accommodation, right on the doorstep of the venues – from vacant student halls to hostels!
The info does not stop there though. For people with a tight budget, FestivalFindr also recommends places to eat, how to get around the city via public transport, local attractions to seek out while you’re in town, and some hidden gems – like the Re-Union Canal Boats, The Writer’s Museum and Surgeons’ Hall Museums.
All of the above comes with links to the relevant sources to develop your local knowledge a little further before you venture to Edinburgh for the big event, and offers up-to-the-minute discounts on hundreds of places to stay.
You can check out FestivalFindr over at Expedia at the end of the link.
The Edinburgh Festival runs from August 4 – 28th 2017.
