Entertainment Weekly have released 20 new images from Black Panther ahead of the San Diego Comic Con, which kicks off in southern California next weekend. The 2018-release Marvel Studios film, which is being directed by Ryan Coogler (Creed), graced the cover of the new issue, which is on news-stands now. Check out the Black Panther official photos below.
Black Panther Official Photos! The film arrives in cinemas in February 2018.
In the film, Chadwick Boseman plays T’Challa, a young man who must take the throne of the unconquered Wakanda when his father is assassinated. EW quotes Boseman who says that Black Panther will show a different dimension to T’Challa, protecting the place he loves, rather than pursuing a mission of vengeance.

“What makes him different from other superheroes first and foremost is he doesn’t see himself as a superhero,” director Coogler said. “He sees himself as a politician. That’s the first thing on his mind when he wakes up in the morning: ‘How am I going to fulfill my duties as king of this place?'”
The magazine revealed more about what we can see in terms of action set-pieces in the film, some of which are on display in the new photos.
[There] is a clash at Warrior Falls, a holy place in Wakanda, and the combatants are the new king, T’Challa, and Erik Killmonger (Michael B. Jordan), a dissident and would-be usurper to the throne. Black Panther’s secret service, the Dora Milaje, look on impassively, so this is clearly a sanctioned fight. We don’t yet know what brings these two men into hand-to-hand conflict…
Women hold great power in Wakandan culture too. The Dora Milaje, which is a combination of Special Forces and Secret Service, is all female — and led by Okoye (The Walking Dead’s Danai Gurira). There is also Ayo (Florence Kasumba), the king’s personal guard. Nakia (Oscar winner Lupita Nyong’o), serves as an undercover operative traveling the world to protect Wakanda’s interests … and hunt its enemies. They can also be seen in one of the new images in the gallery below.
