Andy Garcia will play legendary actor Ricardo Montalban in a new movie over on HBO. He will assume the role of the Star Trek II: The Wrath Of Khan star in My Dinner With Herve, which is already off and shooting. More on the Andy Garcia Ricardo Montalban news below.
According to Deadline, the film centers on an unlikely friendship that evolves over one wild night in L.A. between struggling journalist Danny Tate (Jamie Dornan) and actor Hervé Villechaize (Peter Dinklage), the world’s most famous gun-toting dwarf, resulting in life-changing consequences for both. Villechaize’s most famous role was as Tattoo in the very popular 1970s/80s TV series Fantasy Island, in which he starred opposite Montalban.
Villechaize also appeared in the Roger Moore-led James Bond adventure The Man With The Golden Gun as Nick-Nak. He passed away in 1993 after apparently shooting himself in his Hollywood home. He allegedly left a suicide note saying he was despondent over longtime health problems.
Mireille Enos, Oona Chaplin, Harriet Walter and David Straithorn are also amongst the cast of My Dinner With Herve, which will debut in 2018 – we’re guessing as a TV movie on HBO very similar to the release strategy of Behind The Candelabra, which played on the cable network stateside, but actually received a theatrical release in the UK. It is unclear if this will go the same way, but we’d possibly expect it to. If it goes the way of HBO’s other feature presentations, notably its documentaries, expect this to pop up on Sky Atlantic, who run a lot of HBO’s content in the UK. If we were betting men, we’d guess it would opt for the theatrical route, especially because of its star-power.
