The Avatar sequels have a start date for their huge shoot

Jon Landau, who is set to produce all four of the forthcoming Avatar sequels, has announced a start date for shooting: September 25th of this year.

Landau was speaking at the huge CineEurope event in Barcelona earlier this week, where he went into a little more detail on the story of the next Avatar movies, all of which look to be set on Pandora. He spoke with Empire.

“At the heart of any movie are the characters. One of the strengths of great scripts are always the universal and relatable themes… There’s no more relatable theme than family. At the center of each of our four movies will be the Sully family,” Landau said.

“Each sequel will play as a stand-alone movie. Each movie’s story will come to its own conclusion… However, when looked at as a whole, the journey across all four movies will create an even larger connected epic saga for audiences around the world.”

James Cameron is directed all four movies, while Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldana, Joel David Moore, Stephen Lang, Sigourney Weaver, Cliff Curtis and Oona Chaplin will be amongst the impressive cast.

The Avatar sequels will take up your Decembers for the next few years starting on  December 18th 2020 when Avatar 2 will be released, and then December 17th 2021, December 20th 2024 and December 19th 2025.

We’ll bring you more as we get it.
