One of the most underrated movies of the year so far is arguably A Dog’s Purpose. We fell in love with this little movie when it was released over here a couple of months back, and now it looks like its getting a sequel.
The Wall Street Journal are reporting that a sequel is in the works, largely thanks to Chinese audiences who took $88 million of the film’s $192 million global haul. The word on the street is that a Chinese director is now being potentially sought, but we can’t rule out a return for accomplished filmmaker Lasse Hallstrom, who directed the fist movie.
The first film is broken down into several chunks, each one narrated by Josh Gad telling the story from the point of view of a different dog.
Amblin Entertainment is reportedly developing the project keeping a Chinese audience in mind, which obviously makes lots of sense.
A Dog’s Purpose was based on an original novel by W. Bruce Cameron, who also wrote the screenplay. No word on whether he will return for A Dog’s Purpose 2 either, but we’ll keep you updated.
