It’s great to see Wonder Woman performing so well in cinemas and resonating equally well with the fans. While we previously reported that Patty Jenkins had yet to seal a deal for the sequel, which is obviously happening because of the success of the first film, the filmmaker has reportedly already started writing Wonder Woman 2.
DC film head-honcos Jon Berg and Geoff Johns have confirmed to Variety in a big interview that work is underway. Johns said:
“Patty and I are writing the treatment right now. The goal is to make another great ‘Wonder Woman’ film.”
Johns added that they already have a ‘cool idea’ for a sequel, which we’re guessing is at least 3-4 years off. The first film has made a whopping $578 million around the world (and climbing) at time of writing, from a budget reportedly in the region of $149 million. Pretty decent.
Gal Gadot is set to return to the role in the forthcoming Justice League movie, which debuts in cinemas towards the end of the year.
More on Wonder Woman 2 as we get it.
