Jack Black says both ‘Jumanji’ films will connect through Robin Williams

A new Jumanji film will debut in cinemas later this year, a film that will unite the likes of Jack Black, Kevin Hart and Dwayne Johnson and will reboot the series that started with the original Robin Williams adventure back in the 1990s. Well, we though that the first movie and this new one would not be connected, but it seems that they are, according to Jack Black.

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Black said, “We’re exploring this jungle and trying to conquer the game; it’s life or death, but while we’re there, we find clues left behind by (Robin Williams’ character Alan Parrish). He built up a full-blown jungle house, similar to a Swiss Family Robinson situation. It’s like he’s there helping us without actually being there.”

Black added:

“(In the original) you never got to see the inside world, but this one takes place primarily inside the jungle of Jumanji. That’s the coolest part of the film — we’re able to transport the audience to that secret and wondrous land, with the danger and the beauty.”

This sounds very cool indeed.

Karen Gillan, Nick Jonas, Ser’Darius BlainMadison IsemanAlex Wolff and Morgan Turner are also starring in the forthcoming adventure flick, which is being directed by Jake Kasdan. Scott Rosenberg wrote the script for the movie – he was the man behind the likes of Con Air and High Fidelity, so he has a great track record.

The film is slated to open Stateside on December 22nd.

More on the Jumanji reboot as we get it.
