Michelle Monaghan is to return to the Mission: Impossible franchise for the in-production sixth film in the series. The actress first appeared in Mission: Impossible III as the wife to Tom Cruise‘s Ethan Hunt, and then briefly appeared in Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol. The Mission Impossible 6 cast news was reported by Deadline.
Mission Impossible 6 cast adds Michelle Monaghan.
The news that Monaghan was returning to the franchise was confirmed by writer/ director Christopher McQuarrie on his Instagram page. An image of Monaghan was posted to the social media website late yesterday.

Monaghan also commented on her return to the franchise on her Twitter page shortly afterwards.
Mission accepted. So thrilled to be reuniting w/ @TomCruise for #MI6! Can’t wait to show you guys more of Julia’s story ? #missionimpossible pic.twitter.com/YQjfIS8qob

McQuarrie also posted images of Simon Pegg and Rebecca Ferguson who will also be joining Cruise for the in-production sequel, which is continuing its shoot. Filming had been taking place in Paris, France, but has now relocated to New Zealand.
Cruise was pictured on the New Zealand set just yesterday wearing a New York Yankees cap, stepping out from a helicopter. The helicopter looks very similar to the one seen in the Paris scenes, but of course this may just be coincidence.

Also amongst the cast is Henry Cavill, Vanessa Kirby, Alec Baldwin and Angela Bassett. We know absolutely nothing about the plot as they are being kept under wraps, but the film does have a release date already set for July 27, 2018.
