Hailee Steinfeld has joined the cast of the Transformers spin-off film Bumblebee, so reports The Hollywood Reporter. According to the trade, Steinfeld will play a tomboy who also holds a job as a mechanic after school.
The film is set-up at Paramount Pictures where the rest of the Transformers movies are based, and will be directed by Travis Knight, the man behind the superb Kubo And The Two Strings, the celebrated animation that was released towards the end of last year.
The Bumblebee movie will be based around the fan-favourite yellow robot who transforms from a Chevrolet Camaro.
The next instalment in the Transformers franchise, Transformers: The Last Knight, arrives in cinemas later this month. Mark Wahlberg, Jerrod Carmichael, Isabela Moner, Josh Duhamel, Anthony Hopkins, Laura Haddock, Santiago Cabrera, Liam Garrigan and Stanley Tucci are amongst the cast of the Michael Bay-directed movie.
Steinfeld was last seen in the superb The Edge Of Seventeen and previously Pitch Perfect 2 and True Grit.
