Adam Wingard, the filmmaker behind the likes of horror/ thrillers You’re Next and last year’s Blair Witch redo/ sequel is set to direct Godzilla Vs Kong for Warner Brothers and Legendary.
The film is the fourth in the series that started with Godzilla, which was directed by Gareth Edwards back in 2014. Kong: Skull Island hit cinemas earlier this year and Michael Dougherty will helm Godzilla: King Of The Monsters, which will hit in 2019.
Legendary has set up a writer’s room for the film that will bring the two monsters together in 2020. The likes of Terry Rossio (Pirates of the Caribbean), T.S. Nowlin (The Maze Runner), J. Michael Straczynski (Sense8), Patrick McKay and J.D. Payne (Star Trek Beyond), Jack Paglen (Transcendence), Lindsey Beer (The Kingkiller Chronicle) and Cat Vasko are all involved.
Wingard’s next film Death Note will arrive in on Netflix later this year. Godzilla Vs Kong will arrive on May 22nd, 2020, so only three years or so to go.
