Skyfall and SPECTRE director Sam Mendes is in talks to take the helm of Disney live-action remake of Pinnochio. The Mouse House is in active development on the planned motion picture, based on their 1940 film, which itself was taken from the 1883 children’s book about a puppet and a poor woodcarver. The news is reported by Variety.
Peter Hedges (What’s Eating Gilbert Grape) is writing the screenplay for the film.
Warner Brothers also have a ‘rival’ Pinnochio movie in the works, one which is written by Paul Thomas Anderson. That movie, which is in active development, has Robert Downey Jr. slated to star as Geppetto.
More on both projects as we get it.
