Sam Worthington is a hitman in The Hunter’s Prayer trailer

Coming to cinemas later this year is The Hunter’s Prayer, the new film from Terminator 3: Rise Of The Machines and Breakdown director Jonathan Mostow. I’ve been a fan of Mostow since that awesome 1990s Kurt Russell-led thriller (remind yourself here) and can’t wait to see what he’s got in store with this Sam Worthington starrer.

Here’s a bit of insight into the new film via the official synopsis as provided by the U.S. distributors.

This high octane thriller focuses on Lucas, (Sam Worthington), a solitary assassin, hired to kill a young woman, Ella, (Odeya Rush). When he can’t bring himself to pull the trigger the plan falls apart, setting in motion a twisted game of cat and mouse. Now both are marked for death and forced to form an uneasy alliance. Relentlessly pursued across Europe, their only hope for survival is to expose those responsible for brutally murdering her family and bring them to justice.

Mostow also has the awesome U-571 and Surrogates amongst his back catalogue, so he really an absolutely belting filmmaker. The screenplay for The Hunter’s Prayer is written by Paul Leyden and is based on Kevin Wignall’s book of the same name. Saban Films opens The Hunter’s Prayer in select US theaters starting on June 9th. No word on a UK release as yet, but we’ll keep you posted.
