Disney have got out their pen and paper and set release dates for a bunch of forthcoming sequel and big-budget blockbusters. The Mouse House have slotted in releases for the likes of Star Wars: Episode IX, the new Indiana Jones movie and lots more.
As expected, Star Wars: Episode IX will debut in cinemas in 2019, but actually six months earlier on May 24, 2019, breaking from tradition of debuting a new sequel in December. The studio has also set a release for the fifth Indiana Jones movie. That film, which will reunite Harrison Ford and Steven Spielberg, was set for July 2019, but will now release on July 10, 2020.
Ralph Breaks the Internet: Wreck-It Ralph 2 has been pushed back seven months, moving from March 9, 2018 to November 21, 2018. Ava DuVernay’s A Wrinkle In Time has been pulled forward from April 6, 2018 release to March 9, 2018.
On the Disney live-action adaptation side, Jon Favreau’s The Lion King has had a July 19, 2019 given to it, while the studio will release animated fare Gigantic on November 25, 2020. a full two years later than expected.
The other big news is that Frozen 2, the follow-up to the massive animated feature, has been given a street date, and the film will hit cinemas on November 27, 2019.
Elsewhere, Disney has pencilled in a April 6, 2019 release for live-action comedy Magic Camp, as well as debuts for untitled live-action films on August 9, 2019, April 3, 2020 and March 12, 2021.
They will also put out an untitled Disney Animation feature on November 24, 2021, with a Pixar release set for June 18, 2021. Another Marvel Studios film, which remains unknown has been given a big summer release of August 7, 2020.
