Rowan Atkinson is reportedly looking at bringing one of his famous characters back to the big screen. Well, maybe. This originates from the pages of the Daily Star in the UK. The newspaper reports that Atkinson, currently playing the role of Maigret on television, has reportedly said that he may like to play Mr. Bean as an older gentleman in a new film.
Love, Actually and Notting Hill writer has reportedly come up with a “very funny” idea featuring Bean for a future project – as an old aged pensioner.
“It would be very funny to see where we can go with him as an old man and what kind of comedy we get out of it,” Atkinson told the outlet.
“Playing an old person can be very funny.”
That’s all we know at this stage but it would be good to see the character back on our screens. Atkinson first played the role in 1990 for 13 episodes that aired between then and 1995. He also reprised the role for the movies Bean: The Ultimate Disaster Movie in 1997 and 2007’s Mr. Bean’s Holiday.
