‘Annabelle: Creation’ trailer will keep you awake tonight

Annabelle was easily one of, if not the, creepiest things about The Conjuring. It came as no surprise then that the doll received her own prequel movie. Sadly, Annabelle wasn’t quite the film the fans had hoped for, however, it performed well at the box-office and a sequel was green-lit. The sequel looks to be in safe hands though as David F. Sandberg, the maestro behind last year’s Lights Out, takes the helm. It also appears that the sequel is actually a prequel (a prequel to a prequel?) if this new trailer is to be believed.

The trailer seems to tick all of the The Conjuring boxes – story set in the past, a big creepy house, desperate parents, and a whole heap of jump scares. I guess that everything really does have it’s own cinematic universe these days, this promo even highlights that this is the ‘next chapter in the Conjuring universe’. We might be wrong, but is that nun pushing Janice towards the end of the trailer the same nun that tormented the Warrens? The Nun will of course be the next movie within this franchise; The Hallow‘s Corin Hardy is directing.

Starring Anthony LaPaglia and Miranda OttoAnnabelle: Creation sees a young nun move several girls into the home of a doll-maker and his wife. The kindly couple are hiding a dark secret as, lurking within the newly made orphanage, is Annabelle, a doll possessed by something exceptionally evil.

Annabelle: Creation arrives in UK cinemas on 11th August 2017.
