Are four more Alien movies to follow ‘Covenant?’

It looks like Ridley Scott has some serious plans for the Alien series. The legendary British filmmaker has been speaking to Fandango about his latest, Alien: Covenant, which opens in UK cinemas this coming May. Scott spoke about more planned sequels in the series, which goes beyond another two.

“There will be another one before we kind of literally and logically, clockwise, back into the rear back head of [the original] ‘Alien’,” says Scott. “…If this is successful, and then the next one, and then there will definitely be three more.”

Scott also mentioned the words Alien: Awakening as a potential title for a film that’s set between Prometheus and ‘Covenant’.  Here’s the official synopsis for ‘Covenant’.

Ridley Scott returns to the universe he created in ALIEN with ALIEN: COVENANT, the second chapter in a prequel trilogy that began with PROMETHEUS — and connects directly to Scott’s 1979 seminal work of science fiction. Bound for a remote planet on the far side of the galaxy, the crew of the colony ship Covenant discovers what they think is an uncharted paradise, but is actually a dark, dangerous world — whose sole inhabitant is the “synthetic” David (Michael Fassbender), survivor of the doomed Prometheus expedition.

Ridley Scott is directing the film for the studio, while Michael Fassbender stars alongside Katherine Waterston, Danny McBride, Demián BichirJussie SmolettAmy Seimetz, Carmen Ejogo, Callie Hernandez, and Billy Crudup. We’re also expecting to see Noomi Rapace back as Dr. Elizabeth Shaw, and James Franco as the Captain of the Covenant ship.

Alien: Covenant arrives in cinemas on May 19th, 2017, which is a full three months before it was due to land.
