Alicia Vikander to headline Ben Wheatley’s ‘cops vs aliens’ film Freakshift

Future Lara Croft and Academy Award-winning actress Alicia Vikander is set to star in Ben Wheatley‘s next film Freakshift. The film is describes as a cops vs aliens action film, a major passion project for the Kill List and Sightseers filmmaker.

Freakshift, according to Deadline, who broke the casting news, is an1 all-guns-blazing action thriller about a band of misfits who hunt down and kill nocturnal underground monsters. Wheatley is eyeing an August start for the film and will direct from his own screenplay that he wrote alongside Amy Jump.

Vikander is still filming Tomb Raider, the massive reboot of the video game to film franchise, and will also be seen in period pic Tulip Fever very soon.

Wheatley’s next Free Fire, which debuted at last year’s Toronto International Film Festival, featured quite the cast itself. Brie Larson, Sam Riley, Sharlto Copley, Armie Hammer, Cillian Murphy and Jack Reynor all feature in bullet-fest, which boys in the UK on March 31st.
